Early Bogart Family The early Bogart family began when Cornelis Bogart sailed for America in 1642. He settled in Albany, and all of the subsequent Bogart family history is centered around Albany as well. The Bogarts enjoyed a high social status among the citizens of Albany. The following is a family history from Cornelis Bogart to Henrietta Bogart.

1. Cornelis Bogart and his wife Derkje sailed from Holland to America in 1642, settling in Beverwyck on the west bank of the Hudson River. Beverwyck was later named Albany. He died in 1665. He had five children: 2 Cornelis 3 Jacob, b. 1654 4 Hendrick 5 Jan 6 Jannetje

3. Jacob Bogart was born in 1654 in Albany, New York. He married Jannetje Quackenbush in 1679. They had nine children: 7 Dyrkje, b. 1679 8 Maryya, b. 1681 9 Cornelis, b. 1683 10 Maddalena, b. 1685 11 Jacob, b. 1687 12 Pieter, b. 1689 13 Abraham, b. 1692 14 Isaac, b. 1695 15 Benjamin, b. 1698

14. Isaac Bogart was born in 1695 in Albany, New York. He married Hendricke Oothout in 1725. They had six children, three named Jacob because the first two died as infants. He died in 1770. 16 Jacob, b. 1726 17 Hendrick I. (Henry), b. 1729 18 Jacob, b. 1733 19 Jacob, b. 1734 (twin) 20 Catharine, b. 1734 (twin) 21 Isaac, b. 1741

17. Henry I. Bogart was born in 1729 in Albany, New York. He married Barbara Marselis in 1758. He was Assistant Deputy Quartermaster General for the Northern Department during the American Revolution. He was captain of a ship, the Magdaline, which ran between Albany and New York City. He died in 1821. He had five children: 22 Hendrickie, b. 1760 23 Johannes (John), b. 1761 24 Johanna, b. 1763 25 Isaac Henry, b. 1765 26 Gerrit, b. 1770

23. John Bogart was born in 1761 in Albany, New York. He married Cathrina Ten Broek in 1784 and had four children with her. She died when they were all under eight years old. In 1796 he married Christiana Vought. They had eight children. I am descended from one of his children from his marriage to Christiana Vought. He died in 1853, at the age of 92. 17. John Henry Bogart was born in 1809 in Albany, New York. He married Eliza Hermans in 1835. He died in 1901, at the age of 92. They had five children: 39 John, b. 1836 40 James Henry, b. 1839 41 Augusta, b. 1841 42 Elizabeth, b. 1843 43 Henrietta, b. 1849
