My Dear Miss Bogart,
I regret that owing to pressing engagements it will not be possible for me to call as I had hoped before you leave for the South.

I enclose a letter to my friend Capt. Metcalf who I know will be happy to do anything in his power to assist you.

In case I should fail to see you at the cars tomorrow morning, I beg you to receive with this my earnest and heartfelt wishes for your safe journey and return.

Very Truly Yours,
Charles Raymond

My Dear Captain,
This will be presented to you by Miss Mary G Bogart of this city, Aunt of my late friend, the gallant Majot James H. Bogart of the 162nd New York Infantry, who fell in the assault upon the enemy's works at Port Hudson on the 14th of June last.

Miss Bogart visits Louisiana upon the solemn mission of recovering the remains of her nephew in order that they may find a final and undisturbed resting place here in his native land.

Any assisstance either of act or counsel that you may render her in performing her sad task will be a merited tribute to the noble dead, a token of respect to a mourner's sorrow, and will confer a great and personal favor upon

Your Sincere Friend,
Charles Raymond
