Yorkville, NY April 11, 1863

Dear James Henry,
Yours of the 22 Ultimo giving an account of your Port Hudson Expedition, as well as yours of the 25 both came duly to hand. We have also received the Box, all safe. The articles you send for shall be forwarded by next steamer (on Tuesday or Wednesday next). Mother has not yet got some of the things quite ready or I would send them by to day steamer. I think you will be pleased with the things as they are all the best I could find.

Yesterday, I saw Col Benedict's brother. He says he was expected in New York to sail by todays steamer but as he had not yet arrived, presumed he would not sail until next week. I shall try and se him before he goes.

I sent you by Wednesday steamer two parcels of papers. Will also send some by today mail.

I have no time to write more. All well.

Your Father
