Albany, July 4th, 1863
Dear John,
I have just seen Mr. Weed and furnished him at his own request a copy of Dr. Eager's letter. He says
he will make every effort to have our dear James remains forwarded. Now that he is buried at Baton Rouge
would it not be advisable (if you have sent the letter to Joel Nett) to write to him by the next steamer,
informing him of other arrangements. It is some comfort to hear that Eliza is more composed. I pray God
will enable you both to bear with resignation your terrible bereavement. Mr. Weed feels sensible that your
loss is great, and I trust, he will exert himself to meet your wishes. Mary has forwarded John, Monday's
Journal.
A letter to Evalina has just been handed in from Rev Wm. Reed in which he expresses his deep sympathy and
says he will visit you soon.
In much love Sincerely,
Henrietta
